Sunday Times science correspondents

It seems that the once great journalistic reputation of the Sunday Times establishment is up for the highest bidders. Those highest bidders being the most powerful corporations in the world, such as the agribusiness and pharmaceutical giants Monsanto and Glaxo-Smithcline.

The aim of Monsanto is to control the staple diets of 2.4 billion people and in the process destroy the biological diversity of over 140,000 developed varieties. Monsanto do this with their patented genomes for rice, wheat and their patented pesticide glyphosate in its various trademarks, Roundup, Rodeo, Accord and Touchdown.

Did you know that that most of these patented genomes by Monsanto are designed to be only resistant to glyphosate which is also manufactured by Monsanto. Did you also know that when natural crops become contaminated by these GM crops they can become dependent upon glyphosate to survive.

It is quite likely that Science Correspondents Jonathan Leake and Sarah-Kate Templeton are simply marketing agents for the likes of Monsanto and Glaxo and do not realise the huge implications of what they are doing.

The Sunday Times should recognise that GM is a political and economic issue not just well marketed science issue and get some well researched balanced reporting on this matter in order to restore its reputaion.
